Intro
Vaardspace is a science fantasy RPG setting. It's inclusive of other settings like Forgotten Realms, Eberron, Dark Sun, and Grayhawk. It's a way for you to take your favorite character concepts and drop them into a gonzo setting. It's not just built by me, it's built by the players and what they bring to the game. Respect the other people you play with and have fun.
The game takes place in a fantasy version of our galaxy. In the setting, it's called The Greater Sagittarian Sphere. The word "Vaardspace" refers to the setting of the game, but within the game lore, "Vaardspace" is a region of the galaxy protected by the Emerald Armada. Learn about the galaxy by reading the Cosmology section.
How to Play
We play using two rulesets: D&D 5e and Draw Steel. When you join the game, your GM and players will help you make your character.
Browse this wiki and skim the pages. Imagine a character you think would be fun to play in this setting. Imagine the type of fantasy or sci-fi world your character is from. Is that world in the Vaardspace protectorate? Are they in the Neogi Hegemony? Or is their planet not on the map yet?
We treat this game like a serious tactical combat game, have genuine roleplay and moral quandaries, and silly jokes and cartoon antics. Characters in this setting are not aware they are in a game, so they don't intentionally break the fourth wall. We respect each other and treat each other kindly.
You will have a session 0 with the GM in which you can brainstorm ideas for your character and ask questions about the setting. Depending on who your character is, you may have allies or enemies in various factions, which may make you privy to some secrets of the setting.
