|
Lavos is a medium-sized white-yellow star, and its sphere is the place chosen by Gond to be where his beloved Star Cogs entered the material realm. There are no planets in the Lavos system, but there are several asteroid belts and dust rings where planets may once have been.
|
|
|
|
The Lavos sphere has three notable settlements including Gwel-Grann, the Lavos Station, and Remote Station Tango (RST).
|
|
|
|
Lavos is an independent system. It is not part of the Vaardspace protectorate, although it is near the borders of both Vaardspace and the Neogi Hegemony.
|
|
|
|
## Bubble City
|
|
Gwel-Grann, gnomish for "Bubble City," is the home of the first Star Cogs. Gwel-Grann is a network of connected and free-floating space stations each about the size of a small village. The stations are not uniform, some are little more than glass spheres, some are boxy and made of welded scrap metal. The interiors of some are microcosms of wondrous flora and fauna from the feywild, and others are full of constructs, automata, scientific equipment, and heavy machinery.

|
Gwel-Grann is still home to mostly gnomes, because the stations themselves are gnome-sized, and because non gnomish people usually get annoyed with the silliness that goes on there.
|
|
|
|
## Lavos Station
|
|
Lavos Station is a group of several asteroids that have been converted in to habitats by boring tunnels and caverns inside of them. They are connected by kilometers-long tubes. The Asteroidal Lavos Federation, or ALF for short, is the representing body of the Lavos Station asteroids.
|
|
|
|
The major economies on Lavos Station are refining and recycling the minerals found in the Lavos system, trading for technology produced by the Star Cogs, and exchanging goods and currency from within Vaardspace to brokers from other parts of the galaxy.
|
|
|
|
Lavos Station is also home to the famous Junk Races, wherein teams must construct a space craft from salvaged materials and race it through a treacherous asteroid field. The races have very few rules, but an age limit was imposed when a 9 year old child named Flanagan Mudcrawler entered the race and crashed his ship on the first turn.
|
|
|
|
## Remote Station Tango
|
|
Remote Station Tango, or RST for short, is an Elven Armada outpost in the Lavos sphere. It is a point of contact for the Emerald Armada to arrange passage of merchants, immigrants, and travelers into Vaardspace. |
